Easy fix for a worn coffee table

A few days ago I stumbled upon some great deals in the clearance section at JoAnn Fabrics.  I scored some letter stamps, a box I intend to use for keeping momentos from my littlest's first year, an adorable wooden painted gum all machine to decorate the box, stickers, and fabric pens.

I also scored these fantastic Wood Stain Markers for $0.50 each!  At the time I wasn't sure what I would need them for, but I was positive I would find something.

When I got home and emptied my bag to admire all my finds, it hit me.

Ever since the Little Guy started using our coffee table as a play surface for all of his toys, including many toy cars, it has really taken a beating. There are nicks and scratches all over the place.

Impulsively, I started coloring our table.

I couldn't believe how great it worked! The table looks fantastic and it was fun and easy!

Eventually the table will have to be refinished, but I have a feeling the little ones will do much more damage in the following years. Until then, this is a great and easy solution to keep up the appearance of being as good as new!

  1. I'm going to try this on my kitchen cabinets. I know they need refinishing, but the job is pretty daunting. It's really only the lower cabinets that have issues, so one of these pens might hold me over until I can face the awful job. Thanks for the great idea!
