Non-Scale Victories: not many, but I still have some

I would not call this one of my better weeks. I have been a snacking mad-woman! I blame the time of the month... I think I'm also already on vacation. We leave for Florida in two days and my self-control has definitely started the vacation early! I must be doing something right because I'm still hitting my goal for my last DietBets of the year.

This post isn't about the scale.

Let me try to rack my brain for some non-scale victories.

  • Even though I have had some pretty uncontrollable snack cravings, I have tried to make better choices and not to go too out of control
  • I also have been making some great meals.  Check out my Turkey Lentil Meatloaf - I'm pretty proud of this recipe because I completely threw it together myself and it turned out so yummy! I'll post the recipe soon, but it had lean turkey, lentils, veggies, and oats in it - super healthy!

  • I'm not great at researching healthy eating or why I should eat a certain food, but I did look up some information on the Benefits and Uses for Flaxseed. It was so interesting that I'll probably do it again for other foods I've been wondering about.

  • I felt really good about how I've been feeding my kiddos. I got some traditional "kid food" consisting of chicken nuggets and pizza rolls because I was out of ideas for lunches. I used to LIVE on chicken nuggets - I spent an entire 4 months while I worked at Disney World living on chicken nuggets, Triscuits, and ants on a log... My kiddos? They wanted seconds on corn, not the chicken nuggets. I also asked if they wanted more chicken or an orange and they chose the orange. This Momma is doing something right! It also impressed me to reflect that they hadn't had these foods before. I am SO proud of my kiddo's eating habits!

The last NSV is the one I'm most proud of. This whole journey is for them. I want to prepare them for a healthy life and I want to be healthy to have a better life with them. They are my complete world and they deserve the best!

  2. I love that last NSV!!! So very important. That's awesome! I've just started using flaxmeal - I found a recipe for a low carb muffin made in the microwave that uses flax...it's not as good as bread, exactly, but I like it.
