When I think of Christmas I hardly think of the traditional green and red color combo. I think of snowflakes and sparkles! I wanted my winter wreath to reflect that snowy, magical feel. I made a wreath of silver and white with a lot of snowflakes and icicles and I love it!
I started with s e simple silver garland from the Dollar Tree, and that was all the money I spent n this wreath. Everything else I used came from things I already had - gotta love it!
I wound the garland around the twig wreath loosely and tied it off at the top.
I then dove into my ornament stash and found white snowflakes and silver and white glitter icicles. I added the snowflakes between the garland and hung the icicles from the bottom of the wreath.
I added a couple more icicles to the inside of the wreath and added some silver clip-on flowers to the top.
After some trial and error on placement - and more than one instance of dropping the wreath and starting over! - it was ready for the front door!
I decided the keep the plastic Dollar Tree snowflake that was adorning our door until I got around to making the wreath. You can't have too many snowflakes as far as I'm concerned, but don't quote me on that in April!
I don't know about you, but that says "Christmas" and "winter" to me! Definitely reflective of this Minnesota girl's love for snow!
Are you a traditional red and green person? Are whites, silvers, and icy blues more your thing? Or what says "winter" and "Christmas" to you?

ReplyDeleteIt turned out really cute! I love the silver mixed with the wood.
ReplyDeleteI love the wreath! I like to decorate with blues and silver more than the traditional red and green so this would look great with my other decorations. Thanks so much for sharing on our Wonderful Wednesday Link Party!

ReplyDeleteKristin - I love your wreath! I am going to have to make something like this. I need a new wreath and I like how this has a winter theme and you could use it past Christmas if you want to.
