No More Water Damage!
As I was feeding my 6-month-old and my 2-year-old crept behind and kicked over my full glass of water, I thought about how happy I was that we made sure the tops of our nightstands were practically waterproof.
I take a bottle of water to bed with me every night. I've always tried to have a coaster, and I've wrecked some cheaper nightstands (which makes me think of this project).
My dad custom built our nightstands and I thought about my dilemma with the condensation from my water. Then it hit me! Why not put a vinyl top on the nightstand? We placed a couple squares of peel and stick vinyl on the top of the nightstand an trimmed to fit.
It looks great! With the black paint, the black top blends in so nicely.
I must admit that all these pictures were taken after I clean up an entire spilled glass of water. I would have staged my nightstand a little better, but it looks a lot better than it usually looks!
Congrats to all of you with the picture perfect nightstands. This is neat for me! :)
You might see this at these parties I adore!
Great idea!! I have spilled water on my nightstand so many times... waterproofing it is genius!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I always had a coaster and then came needing room for my water and a baby bottle and I couldn't aim for that coaster in the middle of the night. :)
DeleteThis is such a great idea! Thanks for linking with HickoryTrail
ReplyDeleteSo creative. I take some water to bed with me every night too. I have been known to knock it over a time or two. Can't even blame it on the kid. :)
ReplyDelete:). That's why I usually stick to a water bottle, but it still "sweats" all over the nightstand.
DeleteNever would have thought of this! I just gave away two boxes of vinyl floor tiles, darn!
ReplyDeleteDarn! Fortunately they're often on clearance and not so bad for a couple anyway.
DeleteGreat tip - have pinned it, Alice @ Mums Make Lists

This is a neat solution! As a momma myself, many many spills have been made on my furniture so I appreciate this smart idea! Stopping by from Tatertots and Jello. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I think one of my friends would surely benefit from this and therefore I am going to recommend it to him! Thanks a lot for sharing.
