We are lucky enough to have an amazing gazebo in our yard that was made by my dad last summer. We have a large concrete patio behind the garage and a patio door and window wells that make the yard a little awkward for the deck that we want.
When a friend of ours tore out their existing deck, we gratefully accepted the old boards.
This gives you an idea of the condition they were in.
Once the nails were removed and the boards were cleaned up a bit, we were left with a good amount for a decent walkway from the patio door to the gazebo.
We were fully prepared to have to use a dark paint/stain to cover the condition of the boards. We probably will use something like this color used on the swing set.
For right now, the boards look great! After planing, they really look as good as new!
I love the way it turned out!
A little landscaping was added today and we transplanted some of the plants removed for the deck.
Next up: a little bench placed outside the patio door. I'm thinking this freebie headboard might end up playing a role in that project!
It looks beautiful and in perfect condition - but I really think making it the same color as the swing set is going to look fabulous- against that amazing gazebo!!!!!

Nice! I think that headboard will make a great back for a bench. I really like your steps to the slide made from old tires, too.

Wow! That walkway is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about a small yoga deck for my backyard as I live in an uneven wooded area. This would be perfect and I need to scout out some wood, Yay! I really dreaded using commercial pressure treated wood or composite and this is a fab idea.
ReplyDeletethat looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteI am featuring your reclaimed wood walkway on my blog today. We are getting ready to build a deck with a walkway at my house. I hope it looks as good as yours. Thanks for linking it up and I hope to see you tomorrow for another party.
