I'm thankful for...

I have so many things to be thankful for this year! I'll take this opportunity to name a few and share some of my non-scale victories for the week - something I'm extremely thankful for!

The absolute first thing on the list is my kiddos! I am so happy being a mom, and I find myself awed at those beautiful babies and mind-blowingly smart kids of mine! They are my biggest accomplishment and blessing!

I'm also so thankful for my family. I have the most supportive parents anyone could ask for, and I am so lucky.

I am thankful to my husband who has given me my two pride-and-joys, and has made it possible for me to stay home with them this past year.

I am thankful for the opportunities I have been fortunate enough to have this year. I have spent some amazing time with my children, been able to sneak away for weeks at the cabin with them, and am currently on a fantastic two-and-a-half week long Florida trip that has been wonderful.

I am so thankful to have started this weight loss journey back in March. I have started a whole new life for myself, a good example of healthy habits for my family, and lost nearly 50lbs.

Along with the weight loss journey, I am so thankful to have started this blog. I have met some inspirational people and my eyes have been opened to a world I wouldn't have known existed a year ago. I am incredible grateful to my family for pushing me to attend Bloggy Bootcamp, where I took away incredible amounts of information along with the feeling that I could do anything I set my mind to. Meeting people like Tiffany, Fran, Danielle, and so many others was so inspiring, and I have begun a scary new journey that I hope will be a labor of love and hopefully a means to my "end game."

I am thankful for the health and safety of everyone I love.

And... Did I mention how thankful I am to be a Mom!?!

This week, I am thankful for non-scale victories.

I haven't been good on vacation by any means, but I have done things I never would have done years before. I have gotten out for three runs since being here, not many for a week and a half, but I wouldn't have even packed a sports bra on past trips. I also committed to Elf for Health while on vacation, and have gone meatless for a day and tried a new workout while being here.

Speaking of a new workout, I have swam in our beautiful pool TWICE! I don't think I'll ever forget the look on my 2-year-olds face when I got in the water. He looked at me with such awe that I was swimming with him for the first time! I felt terrible for letting my insecurities stop me for the past two-and-a-half years... I also could cry from the way he looked at me like I was Super Woman, and he was proud. My baby went from not moving off the steps to trusting his little swim vest and swimming on his own that afternoon. I am so proud and so thankful to have gotten over my insecurities before I missed out on moments like that completely!

What are you thankful for? Have you had eye-opening moments like that where you put your hang-ups aside for your kids?

  1. This is a great NSV. Honestly, it is so great that you allowed yourself to go swimming. It is really tough worrying about what others are thinking and being stuck in our own heads worry about it all, but what really is important is that you are able to make memories with your son. Who cares what the rest of the world thinks, you are making memories. I'm glad you were able to overcome your personal struggle (that many of us I'm sure share) with a swimsuit and have a great time with your family!

Hope you had a great thanksgiving!
